The “Santa Croce Refit” project promoted by the Foundation Angeli del Bello with the support of Crédit Agricole Italia was presented today at the Museo de'Medici
Florence, October 18, 2025 - An alliance between citizens, institutions, and businesses to care for one of the city's most iconic neighborhoods. This is the spirit of Santa Croce Refit, the new project promoted by the Foundation Angeli del Bello of Florence with the contribution of Crédit Agricole Italia, presented today at the Museo de' Medici, as part of the celebrations for the fifteenth anniversary of the Foundation.
"A cornerstone of the Foundation in these 15 years of activity has undoubtedly been tenacity! After the experience of Piazzetta dei Re, we are putting ourselves to the test again with the project Santa Croce Refit to intervene against vandalism, neglect, abandonment" – he explains Giorgio Moretti, president of the Foundation Angeli del Bello"In collaboration with the municipal administration and with the contribution of Crédit Agricole Italia, whom we thank for their concrete support, we are ready with determination, commitment, colorful bibs, and a lot of energy to intervene where necessary."
The project includes the weekly presence of Custodi del Bello of Florence, supported by groups of volunteers, engaged in micro-cleaning, vandalism removal, greenery maintenance, street furniture maintenance, and small beautification projects coordinated with the stakeholders. This daily effort, coordinated by the Foundation, aims not only to physically redevelop the spaces but also to strengthen the sense of belonging among those who live and work in the neighborhood and to respect it.
I Custodi del Bello They arrived in Florence as part of a national project implemented by the Florentine nonprofit organization, together with Consorzio Communitas and Associazione Extrapulita APS. The participants are trained and coordinated by the Foundation, and are engaged in social and employment integration programs. Their work creates a virtuous bond between urban decorum, inclusion, and a culture of shared responsibility.
"Santa Croce Refit It was born with the idea of enhancing and protecting a collective heritage with the direct involvement of citizens, associations, businesses and institutions" – continues George Moretti"Just as we did a few years ago in Piazzetta dei Tre Re, we will intervene alongside public action, without replacing it, helping to spread civic awareness, a central objective of our Foundation since always."
“Crédit Agricole Italia is truly honoured to be alongside the Foundation Angeli del Bello, an institution that dedicates energy and resources to improving our city through a large network of volunteers, in this important redevelopment project of one of Florence's most beautiful and historically rich neighborhoods. As a bank, we are always very attentive to enhancing our cultural heritage, but in this specific case, I would also like to thank the sensitivity of all the members of our Territorial Committee, with its president, Dr. Marco Bassilichi, for the collaboration for this project of the Angeli del Bello” highlights Massimo Cerbai, regional director of Tuscany and Umbria at Crédit Agricole Italia.
“We are honored to host the press conference of the Angeli del Bello at a time of such great importance for the Foundation – he declares Samuele Lastrucci, Director of the Medici Museum. – The Museum is not just a setting, but an active participant in the city's cultural life: one of the liveliest and most recognized spaces in Florence, where active citizenship is always welcome in all its forms, especially when it comes to heritage protection and shared valorization. This initiative builds on a recent but already solid collaboration between the Museum and the Foundation, which we are determined to consolidate and further develop.
