The agreement between the two entities that are responsible for safeguarding the beauty of the city has led to 42 interventions in 2025 alone.
Florence, December 4, 2025. Friends of Florence, which in 2025 renewed its support for the Foundation Angeli del Bello for the maintenance of the tabernacles, participated, together with the citizens, last Monday in the intervention on the tabernacle in Piazza Tasso, on the corner of Via del Campuccio, already restored in 2018 thanks to the contribution of the American foundation.
A care intervention for a property returned to the city
The surgery was performed by the team of Custodi del Bello, engaged throughout the year in the small maintenance of the city tabernacles thanks to the support of Friends of Florence.
During the intervention, the following actions were carried out to maintain the tabernacle:
– removal of vandalistic graffiti from surrounding walls;
– removal of the vandalized graffiti on the iron frame;
– removing dust from the glass;
– cleaning the glass with water and detergent;
– dust extraction with mini aspirator.
The tabernacle houses a tempera painting depicting the Madonna and Child, Saint John the Baptist, and Saint Bernardino of Siena, created in 1953 by Piero Bernardini and restored in 2018 under the High Supervision of the ABAP Superintendency of Florence by Martina Calmanti with the support of Friends of Florence.

The project Custodi del Bello, initiated by the Foundation Angeli del Bello In 2022, the project involves vulnerable people, offering them opportunities for reintegration into the workforce through community care activities. The collaboration with Friends of Florence has allowed the project to be expanded with CuriAMO i Tabernacoli, which in 2025 saw the Custodians perform 42 interventions on the city's tabernacles. The project is promoted nationally by Consorzio Communitas, Fondazione Angeli del Bello and Extrapulita association.
