Florence, 12 May 2025 – Timely intervention of Custodi del Bello To restore the decor of the former chapel of Villa il Casone, on Via Villamagna. The historic building, located in the Gavinana neighborhood, had recently been defaced with graffiti. Thanks to the team's meticulous work, the surfaces were completely cleaned using specific products and non-invasive techniques, thus preserving the architectural integrity of the building.
The action falls within the scope of the Foundation's daily activities Angeli del Bello, who has been coordinating the project for over five years Custodi del Bello In Florence. The project engages vulnerable people, offering them training and employment opportunities, with the goal of restoring the city's dignity and beauty.
Over the years, more than 50 people have been involved in this virtuous path, actively contributing to the removal of vandalism, to the care of greenery and to other micro-urban cleaning interventions, alongside a process of social integration; a boy who used to sleep in Piazza de' Ciompi now works in construction in Rome, for example.
"The intervention at the chapel of Villa il Casone, made possible thanks also to the consolidation of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Superintendence, is yet another demonstration of the value of a concrete civic action - declared the President of the Foundation, Giorgio Moretti - which aims to combat urban decay through the direct involvement of citizens and those who, through work, build a new path in life. We cannot forget that the fight between those who deface and those who clean is unequal; it takes very little to deface a wall, while to clean it we spend time and energy to guarantee the best possible quality".
