Volunteers appeal to writers: "Respect this space."
Citizens of the Mugnone Neighborhood Watch Committee and Angeli del Bello Working toward the Spring Festival on March 28th. And an idea was born: to create areas dedicated to street art. People who share values of beauty, respect, and active participation.
Florence, March 26, 2026 – Brushes, paint, and a whole lot of goodwill are needed to restore decor to one of the neighborhood's green spaces. members of the Mugnone neighborhood watch committee, together with the Angeli del Bello, they braved the frost for clean up the gazebo in the Castelnuovo Tedesco garden, in Novoli, in view of the spring festival scheduled for Saturday, March 28, organized by the committee.
This concrete initiative stems from the desire to present the garden in the best possible condition for the event, which will also feature a performance by the Associazione Musicale Fiorentina band.
But alongside the cleanup, there is also a clear message addressed to the city and in particular to the graffiti artists.
«We don't want the gazebo to be defaced again.", the volunteers explain, appealing for respect for common areas. This appeal, however, is accompanied by an alternative proposal, which emerged during the cleanup operations.
They themselves tell the story: "This morning, a girl who introduced herself as a graffiti artist stopped to talk to us and then even decided to help us erase the graffiti. A very positive conversation ensued."
From this conversation, an idea emerged: to create a sort of "gallery" within the garden, with signs to be placed along the edges of the flowerbeds, where writers could express themselves freely. "Instead of dirtying the gazebo," the volunteers explain, "we could offer a dedicated space where people can write and draw in a creative and shared way."
The proposal has already garnered enthusiastic feedback from those present and now awaits the necessary permits. The goal is to transform a problem into an opportunity, combining urban decorum and freedom of expression.
